Hello, all:
It’s been a better week than the last, as we are home from the hospital that we were in last week due to our kiddo E’s being sick. It was a bit bumpy and we had to address some unforeseen complications (let’s just say there’s a reason why Dr. Glaucomflecken’s series about the joys of the U.S. healthcare system resonate with us), but we are progressing forward, and most importantly we are all three home and E is laughing and giggling like normal. I am immensely grateful for everyone here who offered prayers; they were greatly appreciated. Also, as proof that everyone is indeed home safe, here’s Winston our guard triceratops, resuming his post as always.
On a side note, I should also mention that we introduced the classic game Connect Four to the youngling. You know how sometimes when you’re playing a game with a small child and you think that you should dial back your skills and let the kid win so as not to hurt their feelings? Imagine to yourself how it feels when you decide not to do that so that it’ll be a fair game… and the kid wins anyway.
Yep, I got whooped at Connect-Four by a six-year-old.
It wasn’t even close.
In the words of Pumbaa from The Lion King 1 1/2, “Thus did the pupil surpass the teacher.”
Writing Update
I am working to get back into a steady pace on the novel; I hope to have a first draft by the end of the year. Meanwhile, Gaseous Girl and the Winds of Time has approximately four episodes to go; our heroine has arrived in the Second Circle of Hell and there’s only one circle left, so this should be wrapping up soon!
As for other stories on the ‘Stack, I took an advance look at the Captain Happily Married serial in Secret Relic, and answered a question forwarded by
in Ask the Captain: Polarizer. Next I’ll begin outlining the CHM serial, so that should be fun! Whee! Also, as a reminder when the new serial begins happens the Gaseous Girl serial will go behind a paywall, so get your reads in now!Closing Time
One song my family particularly loves, from Encanto, is “We Don’t Talk about Bruno.” There’s a particularly helpful karaoke version we found on YouTube that’s helpful: you’ve no idea how fun it is after a stressful time to belt out at the top of your lungs, “ISABELLA YOUR BOYFRIEND’S HERE, TIME FOR DINNEEEEEER!”
Anyway. Enjoy!
Until next time,
Michael
