Hello, all:
It’s interesting how life experiences inform the things you observe: for instance, the first time I went through Breaking Bad during law school, I don’t particularly recall noticing that the nurses in the Albuquerque Pediatric ICU wore disposable yellow gowns and facemasks; now, some years, multiple hospital stays with our immunocompromised child, and a pandemic, I notice, y’know?
Also, the eclipse. We weren’t quite in the path of totality: we were in 99.6 percent of totality, and for a moment we were concerned that clouds might intervene and spoil the experience. However, at the last possible moment a big cloud moved out of the way and the sun emerged into a wide open spot in the sky just in time for the high point of the eclipse, and let me tell you, it was something. Streetlights and porchlights turned on, it got noticeably darker and a touch chillier, and we heard a mourning dove a street over that we’re pretty sure was really confused and trying to rush home. Then the eclipse was over and everything was right again. I feel sorry about that poor dove.
