Post-Monday Writing Update
Life happens, as it were. I should’ve written this yesterday, per schedule, but with one thing and another, I did not. To quote the cleaner shrimp from Finding Nemo, I am ashamed. *scurries away*.
In any event, I have listed to the results of last week’s poll as to my next writing project; accordingly, I’ll be working on…drum roll please… a sequel to The Ballad of Evinrude and Eulalie! There’s plenty of room for one; we could check in with the titular Eulalie, perhaps do a bit of world-building, and then of course there’s the rather obvious last line.
Meanwhile, far across the sea from Isle Turtledove, something was stirring beneath the waves. What Constance, Sally, and everyone else had forgotten about was that Evinrude’s quest for vengeance had an unforeseen consequence. Rowena’s detour had caused Evinrude to stumble into awakening an ancient evil, a monster that had slept on his island for centuries undisturbed. Now the giant was awake. He’d had his morning snack, namely Evinrude, and had gone back to sleep for a bit, but now he was awake again. And, as one usually is, he was still hungry. Grendel was on the move. Worse, he wanted his mother.
So yeah. Grendel’s Mother, coming right up!
As for the Kindle Vella side of things, The Return of the Space Otter is at 17 episodes and will be concluding within a few weeks; The Mad Scientist, the Superhero, and the Duck, Vol. 2: The Wrath of Thrud! is at five episodes and will be going for quite some time yet. Finally, I’ve started formatting Who Killed Ron Raven?; the tricky part is trying to get things right on a Chromebook, which I haven’t doing before, but hopefully it will pan out and look decent when it’s all set up.
Closing Time
It’s the season for March Madness, and alas, my bracket is in terrible shape. So far the only team I had picked for the Final Four that’s still in it is the University of Connecticut. Incidentally, have you ever noticed that there hasn’t been a movie where angels intervene to save a basketball team? We had Angels in the Outfield, Angels in the Endzone, even Angels in the Infield (which, uniquely, had players from the other side, if you know what I mean), but no Angels at the Half-Court (props to my wife who came up with that). I wonder why?
Until next time,
Michael
