To: Death Angel Command
From: Winifred, Death Angel First Class
Subject: Disposition of Soul re: Teleporting Wonder (Will, the)
Life Summary:
Subject of Disposition is male human, ID 21-115, middle-aged, otherwise normal but somehow acquired ability to teleport self from one location to another. Origin of power: unknown. Guardian’s inquiries to Higher Command received following response: See Mysterious Ways, Moving In, Re: Lord. Guardian proceeded with caution.
After encouragement, subject used power to save various other humans and a cat. Subject tried to get job with local first responder organization, didn’t get it. Guardian attempted consolation of subject; this failed, reasons unknown. Subject then tried to argue with supervisor about it, and accidentally (?) teleported supervisor’s arm off. Police were called. Federal law enforcement were called.
After a length of time trying to hide and/or escape, subject attempted to long-range teleport into Pacific Ocean. Subject aimed for small island w/o extradition treaty. Subject missed. Guardian arrived on scene and prepared to air-lift subject out. D.A. on duty advised guardian per standard protocol that subject’s time had come and rescue was not authorized. (See attached re: guardian’s request for reconsideration and response re: mysterious ways, etc.) Subject demised; corporeal form remains at bottom of ocean. Unlikely other humans will locate it.
Final Soul Disposition:
Violently detaching arm of another and fleeing scene is, obviously, disapproved. Also, last rites unavailable, no priests or anyone else being on hand in middle of ocean. Analysis of soul and events immediately prior demise, however, note that prayers were said by subject prior to and during final teleportation. Guardian consulted; file reviewed. Soul admitted to P.G. (Pearly Gates).
Respectfully submitted,
Winifred, D.A. - 1st C.
Author’s Note: This is a sequel of sorts to End of Report; it concerns the same events but from Winifred’s point of view. Also, inspiration for this came from a comment by Brennan Quenneville on the Fictionistas workshop thread. Thanks, all!
