For the episode in which this impromptu serial started, see Road Trip.
“Well, this is nice,” said Charles. He didn’t really think it was; indeed, being stuck in a roadside human-run diner with two other goblins waiting out a monsoon was about the worst way he could imagine to pass the time, but he couldn’t think of anything else to say. Besides, he didn’t like awkward silences.
“Huh,” Khorlax the Florginator grunted. It was not a pleased grunt. It was a grunt that said “I had better have some food soon or I will be swinging my axe at everyone within reach”. Charles shivered.
Just then their waitress reappeared. “All right, boys,” she said cheerily, “Let’s see, I got one large vanilla milkshake?”
“Mine,” Charles said.
“Here you go,” she said, handing it to him as Khorlax and Lurgis Forks both snickered.
“A triple order of bacon and an extra-large root beer?”
“Mine,” Khorlax said. As he took the root beer he spilled a little on Florg, his mighty axe. “So she don’t get left out,” he explained.
The waitress tactfully overlooked this and moved to the final order. “And that leaves the bowl of fish-flavored toasted O’s for you,” she said, handing down a bowl and a glass of milk for Lurgis Forks. The other two goblins looked at him in unveiled astonishment.
“So I’m tired of eatin’ meat all the time,” Lurgis said. “Thought I’d try something else for a change.”
“Huh,” said Charles. “Didn’t even know cereal was on the menu.”
“They had to make it special,” Lurgis said happily as he poured his milk.
“Huh,” said Charles again. You just never knew with some goblins. Or people, for that matter.
